Hello Tripawds!

I rescued Emma Grace at 6 months old in 2001. She had been abused and abandoned. She was a mess, but quickly became a spoiled pup! Between my mom, neighbors and myself, she has had a long life of being loved ❤️.2 years ago, she lost her hearing and we have become accustomed to check for her behind the vehicles as we were leaving home. Unfortunately, she was hit on 12/12/16. After rushing her to the vet approximately 1 hour away, we learned that she had only minimal internal injuries and the main concern was a butterfly fracture to her front left leg. She was transferred to a new vet the following day and after a closer inspection and consultation with several other vets, we learned that her leg was inoperable and amputation was the only choice we had other than euthanasia, which was no option at all! Her leg was amputated on 12/14/16 and she came home on 12/16/16. Gracie is 15 years old and is struggling in recovery.  This is our story.

  1. Oh Gracie! I hope you are doing a little better in the next few days!! The first weeks are so tough for so many. I really didn’t expect that at all, although I guess I should have. That is one big surgery. And at Gracie’s age it’s probably a little harder yet. She looks like she’s got a strong spirit, though, so I’m keeping fingers and remaining paws crossed for some relief for you guys!
